3e-010F Crypto Client PC Software used with 3e-110 PC Card
General FAQ

Question:  Why won’t the Crypto Client software function correctly?

Answer:  For the software to function correctly the system needs to be rebooted the first time a PCMCIA card is installed in the system. After the software has been installed, the PCMCIA card has been inserted, and the driver has installed, re-boot the PC/laptop.

Question:  Why does the taskbar icon say no card is present even though the PC card is in the laptop’s PC card slot?

Answer:  The PC card may not be fully seated in the slot. Try removing the card and reinserting it.

Question:  Why doesn’t the PC Card successfully associate with the WLAN after setup?

Answer:

  • Ensure that the encryption algorithm you used is the correct one.
  • Remember that it is case sensitive (Capital and lowercase letters are important)!
  • Do not use “copy” and “paste” to copy encryption keys during setup.
  • Manually enter encryption key values when setting up encryption.
  • Ensure that the authentication algorithm used on the AP matches that selected on the client.
  • If the AP uses MAC address filtering, ensure the system administrator has added the device’s MAC address to the AP.

Question:  Why won’t any data transfer occur between gateway and client even though they associate?

Answer:

  • Click the Rescan button to re-authenticate.
  • If it still does not work see below.
  • Double check all configurations to make sure they are correct.
  • For this problem to occur, there must be a mismatch in configuration.
  • If either the client or gateway is configured with 192-bit AES keys, and the other is configured with 3DES, then they will appear to associate, but not transfer data.
  • The client and gateway must be reconfigured using the same type of encryption.

Question:  Why does the message “Unable to communicate with device driver. Status=xx.y” appear?

Answer:

  • If the radio was disabled before configuration this message will appear.
  • The card cannot be configured when the radio is disabled.
  • Enable the radio and then continue with the configuration.
  • The driver has some problem in which it failed to communicate with the configuration utility.
  • Close the configuration utility and continue.
  • By using the unplug or eject hardware icon on the taskbar, the 3eTI Wireless PC card will stop.
  • Remove the PC card from the slot and reinsert it. This will reload the driver.

Question:  Why is my current profile inaccurate when I switch wireless LAN cards?

Answer:

  • If you switch cards, the profile that becomes active is the one that was last used with that card.
  • The profile indicated by the user interface may not be the one actually used by the card the first time the card is switched.
  • You will have to explicitly select the profile again and select the Apply button to make the profile active.

Question:  Why does my PC card not function properly after my computer returns from standby mode?

Answer:  After returning from standby mode the PC card will need to be removed from the slot and reinserted.

Question:  Why isn’t the user interface visible in the Crypto Client?

Answer:  If the font is set to greater than 100% then the user interface is not visible. Set the font to 100% or less.
